Acting Track

Acting Track - For those groups or individuals a bit more interested in acting than just the basics.  With a focus on the most important skills needed to be successful at bringing life to any character, the PS Acting Track is hands on, exploratory and will make actors out of mole hills. (That's not how the saying goes is it?)

Beginner Acting

Duration: 1-3 hours

Attendance: min 6 / max 30

In short: Acting at its most basic level is just advanced play.  If you used your imagination as a kid to play games in imaginary worlds, you can act.  In this workshop, we redefine what it is to act by focusing students on the foundational skills found in play.  The result is confident, well-prepared actors.

Intermediate Acting

Duration: 1-3 hours

Attendance: min 6 / max 30

In short:  Acting is one part play, one part thinking and 100% reacting.  In this workshop students learn the most important skills necessary when approaching any project - how to act and react.  Using the basic acting principles of developing needs, wants, and actions, students will develop the tools necessary for approaching any script.

Advanced Acting

Duration: 1-3 hours

Attendance: min 6 / max 30

In short: "If" the actor knows what his needs, wants and actions are, then he is ready to walk into the world of the script.  Using the magic "if", students will explore a variety of scenarios through which they can exercise their newly acquired acting skills.  It feels great to know what you're doing.  A good actor is an equipped actor.

Scene Work

Duration: 3-6 hours

Attendance: min 6 / max 12

In short: Only practice makes perfect.  In this workshop, students will work with scene partners on a script assigned by the instructors.  As students perform and are critiqued they will exercise and reshape their skills.  The final product will be a fully realized, professionally directed piece.
